HOYLE STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT CARTER’S LIFE & LEGACY

WASHINGTON, D.C.  –  Today, U.S. Representative Val Hoyle attended the State Funeral of Former President James ‘Jimmy’ Earl Carter, Jr. who passed away at on December 29, 2024.He was 100-years old. After attending the service at the National Cathedral,Representative Hoyle released the following statement:

“I was honored to attend President Jimmy Carter’s celebration of life at the National Cathedral today,” Rep. Hoyle said. “President Jimmy Carter’s life in service was always centered around the public good. He was so much of what we hope to see in an American leader: husband, father, humanitarian, teacher, farmer, veteran, conservationist and public servant. He also was hardworking, diligent, courageous and moral."

"More than anything else, President Carter consistently reminded us to place America’s highest ideals at the center of our national life and to treat each other with caring and kindness. The idea of always trying to do the right thing and to aim to be better today than we were yesterday, is not onlyenduring but is particularly important right now.”

From 1946 to 1953, President Carter served in the United States Navy as a submarine officer. He remained in the U.S. Navy Reserves until 1961, retiring as a Lieutenant. Prior to the Presidency, President Carter served as Governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975. President Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He was the longest livingPresident.
