LEGISLATIVE INTERNSHIP
The Office of Representative Val Hoyle (OR-04) is hiring a Legislative Intern to work in her Washington, D.C. office. This is a paid internship running from September through mid-December 2025.
The Legislative Intern will support a fast-paced and collaborative team and gain firsthand experience in a congressional office. Interns play a key role in both the legislative and administrative operations of the office.
Responsibilities include the following:

Assisting with front office operations and greeting visitors;

Answering phones and recording constituent opinions;

Sorting and responding to constituent mail;

Compiling daily news clips;
-
Attending and summarizing briefings and hearings;

Assisting with press materials and other written communications;

Leading Capitol tours for constituents; and,
-
Providing additional administrative and legislative support as needed.
Successful candidates shoulddemonstrate that they are organized, detail-oriented, and professional. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

PRESS INTERNSHIP
The Office of Representative Val Hoyle (OR-04) is hiring for a full-time Press Intern (Fall 2025) to work in her Washington, D.C. office. This is a paid internship. The fall internship will span September to mid-December. Full-time interns will work Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm when Congress is out of session and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm when in session.
The Press Intern will work closely with a highly productive and fast-paced communications team.
Responsibilities and educational opportunities will include:
- Compiling daily news clips;
- Assisting in drafting press releases and other written materials;
- Assisting in drafting social media content, including creating graphics and editing video content;
- Helping to maintain press lists;
- Clipping committee remarks and cable hits;
- Batching mail;
- Writing letters;
- Answering phones; and,
- Leading tours of the U.S. Capitol.
The ideal applicant will have a strong interest in political communications and have strong writing skills. Previous video editing and graphic creation experience a plus, but not required – we can teach you!
