HOYLE RESPONSE TO THE U.S. SUPREME COURT’S MIFEPRISTONE RULING
WASHINGTON, DC— Today, U.S. Representative Val Hoyle (OR-04), a proud member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court released their unanimous ruling on Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, which protected access to FDA-approved abortion medication Mifepristone:
“Today’s decision reaffirms that a woman's health care decisions should be up to her and her medical provider — NOT judges and politicians. Anti-choice extremists are attempting to use the judicial process to undermine women’s autonomy and promote misguided ideology that ignores science. Women deserve broad access to essential healthcare services — including abortion — regardless of where they live.
“While this ruling is a bright spot, we must remember that those behind this lawsuit will not stop until they succeed in completely eliminating reproductive freedom for all women across the country, and the U.S. Supreme Court is still considering another crucial decision that could impact women’s access to abortion services.”
